WIS teachers spent the day last Friday involved in professional development. Our focus was on grading practices, technology integration, and inclusion of special services students in the regular classroom. We are fortunate to have a high quality group of teachers that are always interested in getting better at what they do. We hope our students enjoyed the day off!
This week most classrooms have been busy finishing up fall DRA assessments. These reading assessments are given to every student two times a year to not only show where they are compared to their grade level, but they also guide teacher instruction to help each student improve their reading and comprehension abilities. Parents will receive a detailed report based on this assessment at the end of first quarter. This will replace the reading grade on student grade cards.
Next week WIS student council will host our first skate night of the year on Thursday, Oct. 7th, at 6 pm at Skateport on S. Glenstone. We want to encourage all students and their parents to attend as we will also be having our monthly PTO meeting as well. It will be a fun night! Don’t forget that next Friday is an early out for students with a 12:30 dismissal.
Enjoy your fall weekend!
