Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher conferences will be October 27th and 29th.  If parents do not already have a time scheduled they are encouraged to contact their child’s homeroom teacher to do so.  1st quarter grade cards and MAP score reports will be distributed during conferences.  Don’t forget to stop by and visit our book fair going on in the library while you are in  the building!

WIS Fall parties will be held on Wednesday 10/28 starting at 3:00.  Thanks to all our homeroom parents that make these parties so much fun for our students!

A reminder that school will not be in session on Friday 10/30.  Enjoy the three day weekend and don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour as Daylight Savings Time comes to an end on Saturday night 10/31.

Fast times at WIS

The cool and dreary weather has not kept things from moving
at warp speed at WIS! Last Saturday 50 members of our
running club along with 13 staff members and parents
participated in a very chilly Sunshine Run. Several runners
earned honors for placing within their age group. Way to
go! Our fall fund-raiser winds down this week. As of today
our students have sold over 1300 of our Tiger Savings cards!
If you have not gotten your hands on one of these great
money savers you have really missed out. You can still
purchase one from our office.

WIS hosted our first skate night of the year last night.
Thanks to our student council and sponsors for organizing
this event! 180 of our students spent the evening having
fun and helping a great cause. All of the proceeds will be
donated to the families of the WHS students that lost their
lives last week. Our next skate night is scheduled to take
place in the spring.

A reminder that next week is red ribbon week at WIS.
Students are encouraged to participate in each of our
spirit-themed days as we strive to remain drug free.  Also, don’t forget about our upcoming book fair.  It kicks of on Thursday 10/22 and runs through the following week.

Bring on October!

The month of October brings with it cooler weather, football games, and a busy month at WIS! Our 100+ member running club has been preparing for their annual participation in the Sunshine Run. Race day is 10/10 at 7:30. We wish everyone running the best of luck. Our fight free program has challenged our students to go 20 days in a row without a physical altercation. If they can do this they will get to witness one of our fearless administrators eat several live bugs! (I wonder who volunteered to do that??)

WIS is proud to recognize that 144 of our students completed over 1100 hours of reading over the summer participating in the Green County Library summer reading club. The names of  these students are posted in the trophy case at the main entrance to the building. Way to go!
