1st Mid-Quarter

Where does the time go? Here we sit at the mid-point of the
first quarter and it seems we just started. It is great to
see everybody into their “routine” and great instruction and
learning going on! One of the most influential “new” things
on the teaching/learning process at WIS this school year is
our focus on incorporating technology into daily lessons.
Thanks to the generosity of the district and many hours of
training and planning by our teachers it is now a very
common thing to see lessons imbedded with digital media. We
know that there is still much work to be done but we are
incredibly proud of the strides that have been made to
“catch up” with the digital world in our teaching.

A reminder that  mid-quarter grades will go home with
students on Monday the 21st. Parents are encouraged to
visit with their child about their academic progress and to
contact their teachers with any questions or concerns. Also,
a reminder that school will not be in session on Friday 9/25
for our teacher professional development day. Have a great
weekend!

WIS Student Involvement

As the third week of the new school year comes to a close and everyone is settling into their routines, WIS looks forward to the start of many of our after school activities. Most of our school clubs will begin in the next few weeks. Spanish club met this week and will meet again on October 6th. Running club, Scrapbooking club and Friday morning choir all meet next week. These are great ways for our students to try something new in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. WIS offers several other clubs that students may join throughout the year. We hope to appeal to the various areas of interest our students have. Students are encouraged to check with the club sponsors for details on how to join. Parents can check out the WIS building calendar on the blog roll to the right for dates and times.

Enjoy the holiday weekend and the early fall weather!

First PTO meeting

We will be hosting the first PTO meeting of the new school year this Thursday evening from 6-7 pm in our library.  We encourage any WIS parents that are interested in working with our PTO in any way to attend.  Officers for this year will be elected so make sure you are there!
