See you back at school on January 4th 2010
It seems that the weather has finally caught up with the
calendar. It is cold outside! Today WIS celebrated having
20 days in a row fight free. As a result everyone got to
watch Mr. Davis eat several live insects in our afternoon
assembly. It was quite a show. We are proud of our
students and look forward to reaching our next fight-free
goal!
Our student council sponsored our second “Hat day” of the
year. WIS came through in a big way and raised over $200
that will benefit the Jim Staley Scholarship fund. Thanks
to everyone that participated.
| Can you believe it is already the 20th of the month? In looking at the calendar we only have school three more days before December starts and the Christmas rush is upon us. I am sure our students are not bothered by this! This week saw WIS involved in several service and learning activities. Our annual Student Council Thanksgiving food drive saw a huge response to the needs of our community. WIS collected over 1200 food items and will provide food baskets to 21 families. Thank you to everyone that gave to this cause and to our student council for organizing it! WIS kicked off a brand new club on Thursday. PE club will Don’t forget that school will not be in session Nov. 25-27. |
2nd quarter mid-term reports went home today with students. Those families that have provided email information should have received an electronic copy as well. If you would like to be added to the email list please contact our office at 742-4242.
What a beautiful week of weather we have had! I can’t remember the last time we have had a full week of outside recess. Congratulations to the green team on being our first D.A.R.E. graduating class of the year. It was great to see all the proud students and parents last night. A special thanks to Chief McLain for making this program available to our 5th grade students. Yesterday was also our first iChoose field trip of the year. 11 of our students earned this privilege by exemplifying the positive behaviors and attitudes we want all WIS students to have. We look forward to offering these field trips each quarter.
Next week we will be hosting our annual Veterans Day assembly on Wednesday the 11th at 9:30. I know that our students and teachers are honored to be able to recognize the service and sacrifice of family and friends that have served in all branches of the military. We hope you can join us for this event!
